Laser printers and single-color copiers work through an electrostatic digital process that produces high-quality materials. For such printers that use fuser oil, uncoated Teslin substrate thinner than 10 mil (254 micron) is not recommended, as multiple feeds are common if tray feeding is attempted. In oil-free laser printers, Teslin TS range can be used.
In laser print applications where registration of the toner image with preprinted information is critical, Teslin TS substrate is recommended, as this material has been stabilized to limit shrinkage to < 2 percent.
In a pressure-sensitive format with the proper adhesive and liner, Teslin SP grade can be fed in laser printers. In the pressure-sensitive format, the release liner provides adequate sheet-to-sheet slip for successful tray feeding. The proper pressure-sensitive adhesive must be specified to avoid adhesive squeeze-out at sheet edges, which can lead to adhesive deposits on the transport surfaces and internal jams.
Color Printers/Copiers
Teslin substrate has been imaged in certain models of Canon, Xerox, Kodak, Konica Minolta, Lexmark and Ricoh color copiers and printers. However, equipment options in this field change rapidly. Teslin TS and SP grades also have been successfully imaged using machines that use minimal or no fuser oil.
